On Thursday, June 12, 2025, Chilean company Camanchaca and Grupo Intelsis jointly presented a success story at SAP Week (#SAPWEEK), focused on process optimization and automation with SAP Intelligent RPA.
The session was led by Juan Carlos Olea, IT Deputy Manager at Camanchaca, and Paz Araya Fraser, Commercial Director at Grupo Intelsis. According to the presentation, the benefits showed up on three fronts:
- Less time on manual tasks: automation significantly cut the effort spent on repetitive activities.
- More accurate data: with less manual handling, the information flowing between processes became more precise.
- People focused on strategic work: teams could spend more of their time on higher-value activities.

From SAP Intelligent RPA to SAP Build Process Automation

How to choose which processes to automate
Not every process is a good candidate. Before you design your first bot or workflow, check four criteria:
- Rule-based: decisions follow clear criteria that can be documented, without case-by-case subjective judgment.
- High volume: the task repeats often, so the gain from each run multiplies over the month.
- Stable: the process, systems and screens involved don't change all the time. Automating an unstable process creates more maintenance than benefit.
- Measurable: you can measure time, volume and errors before and after. Without a baseline, there is no way to prove the value of automation.
In many companies, data entry between systems, reconciliations, supplier invoice processing, purchase order handling and recurring reports tend to meet these criteria. Even so, the starting point is always a real map of your own operation.
