Migration to SAP S/4HANA
SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA migration with assessment, roadmap, code and data adaptation, conversion rehearsals, and a planned cutover before 2027.
Overview
SAP ECC 6.0 mainstream maintenance ends on December 31, 2027, and the optional extension to 2030 comes at additional cost. Moving to SAP S/4HANA is a chance to simplify processes, work with real-time data, and adopt SAP Fiori apps, rather than just switching versions.
Grupo Intelsis starts with an assessment of customizations, integrations, and data volume, recommends the approach (greenfield, brownfield, or selective transition), and plans phases, dependencies, checkpoints, and contingencies before touching the production environment.
Execution moves forward in controlled cycles, with conversion rehearsals, integration testing, and a go-live supported by specialists. Clients who moved to Private Cloud report critical operations preserved during migration and 60% lower infrastructure costs.
Highlights
Why Grupo Intelsis
We analyze customizations, integrations, add-ons, and data volume to decide what to migrate, adapt, simplify, or leave behind.
Phases, dependencies, checkpoints, and contingencies are planned upfront. Clients who moved to Private Cloud report no stoppage of critical operations.
We keep the developments that differentiate your business, retire what nobody uses, and move to SAP BTP what can leave the core.
RISE with SAP, a hyperscaler, or your own data center: as a Google Cloud Premier Partner, AWS Partner, and Microsoft Partner, we assess every option.
Scope
We cover the technical and functional workstreams of the migration, from the first assessment to stabilization in production.
Analysis of the ECC landscape to map simplification items, add-ons, interfaces, and data volume before sizing the project.
When to migrate, in what order, and with which approach, with risks, dependencies, effort, and business benefits made explicit.
Usage analysis and adjustment of ABAP code to S/4HANA changes, retiring developments that are no longer used.
Data cleansing and archiving, conversion of customers and suppliers to Business Partner, and balance reconciliation.
Review of SAP and non-SAP integrations, third-party add-ons, and extensions, with end-to-end testing.
SAP HANA sizing and a choice between RISE with SAP, a hyperscaler, or your own data center, with specialized Basis support.
Mock conversions, integration and regression testing, and downtime measurement to calibrate the cutover.
Role-based SAP Fiori apps, training for business teams, and change management so the new system is truly used.
Key decisions
Made early and with data from your landscape, they reduce rework, cost, and cutover risk.
Approach
Reimplement, convert, or migrate selectively?
Edition and hosting
Private Cloud, Public Cloud, or your own infrastructure?
Data
How much history should move, and what should be archived first?
Code
Which customizations still create business value?
Conversion path
With SAP ECC mainstream maintenance ending in 2027, every stage needs time for rehearsals and adjustments.
SAP Readiness Check and interviews with business teams to measure the impact, effort, and risks of the conversion.
Choice of greenfield, brownfield, or selective transition, plus edition, hosting, and migration waves.
Data cleansing and archiving, Business Partner, custom code adaptation, and technical prerequisites.
Mock conversions on copies of the system to validate data, measure downtime, and fine-tune the plan.
A planned downtime window, validation checkpoints, a fallback plan, and specialists on hand for the switchover.
Stabilization, adoption support, and a roadmap for new capabilities such as SAP Fiori apps, analytics, and Joule.

Frequently asked questions
The system keeps running, but SAP ECC 6.0 (EHP 6 to 8) mainstream maintenance ends on December 31, 2027. SAP offers optional extended maintenance until the end of 2030 at additional cost. Without that extension, or once it ends, your landscape no longer has regular coverage for fixes and legal updates.
Greenfield is a new implementation, suited to redesigning processes based on the standard. Brownfield is a conversion of the current system that preserves history, configuration, and customizations. Selective transition combines both and moves only the units, processes, or periods you choose. The decision comes out of the assessment, weighing risks, timelines, and the value of each customization.
Every conversion requires a downtime window, but it can be planned and reduced. Rehearsals measure the actual duration of each step, the cutover is rehearsed with business teams, and a fallback plan is defined before the switchover. That is also why go-live dates usually avoid critical periods such as closings and sales peaks.
Not necessarily. SAP S/4HANA can run on Private Cloud, contracted through RISE with SAP, on Public Cloud through a new implementation, or on infrastructure your company manages, in the cloud or in a data center. Many companies use the migration to leave their own infrastructure behind, and the choice weighs cost, control, and regulatory requirements.
It depends on the size of the system, the volume of customizations and interfaces, the approach, and the number of companies and countries. SAP Readiness Check and the assessment make it possible to estimate effort with data from your landscape. The sooner the analysis starts, the more room you have for rehearsals and adjustments before mainstream maintenance ends in 2027.
